⭐ Welcome to our second article on the metaverse in events. If you haven't read our first part "Guillaume's interview, a passionate metaverse expert", you can find it here.

The world of event 2.0 is evolving at lightning speed, and we already have the latest news to share with you, particularly in fashion and music. Big players, media, reference sites, metaverse events that marked the start of 2022: we tell you all about it! 👇

1. Major players and their news 💡

The big current trend seeing massive growth across metaverse worlds is digital real estate. Between Token.com, a Canadian company that spent nearly 2.5 million dollars to acquire a virtual property in Decentraland (a metaverse world), and Metaverse Group who reportedly bought land for 2.43 million dollars, the numbers keep climbing.
Other players have also understood the value of investing digitally and fictitiously, such as Republic Realm, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Axie Infinity, or various public figures (Marco Verratti, Kingsley Coman, and Stan Wawrinka, among others).

The technology race is on, and many tech companies are trying to develop this technology that is still little known to the general public.
Indeed, VRXtream (the next-generation event platform) recently announced the launch of an events metaverse equipped with AR and VR technologies. The platform is integrated with the NFT market, which makes it easier to network and hold social and entertainment events in the metaverse.
We can also mention Ubisoft, which has just announced its arrival on the decentralized metaverse. Or VR Education, which added virtual communication solutions to its ecosystem (a corporate metaverse called "ENGAGE Oasis", a virtual world designed for businesses and B2B events).
Skillful Craftsman announced a strategic alliance to develop a metaverse platform for training in smart technical skills. Leading company Microsoft recently shared its plan to integrate a metaverse into its Teams video conferencing tool (imagine 3D team meetings with VR headsets!).

And to finish, a touch of French flair! Dogami, a French startup, shared its ambition to develop the "petaverse", the metaverse dedicated to pets.

🤔 Did you know? The Roblox platform has more than 200 million monthly virtual players. Every day, players (avatars) change outfits.

2. Examples of events in the metaverse ♾️

More and more events are popping up across metaverse worlds, and 2022 is resonating with fashion and music. Here is a selection of a few of them:

The latest conference of the music and film festival South by Southwest took place in a 3D world accessible from the Internet and VR headsets.
Virtual concerts are also trending, even though they're followed by a limited number of participants. We can mention Arte, which just organized Timothée Joly's concert in Zuckerberg's metaverse, still inaccessible in France (sorry!). Or the virtual concerts of Travis Scott and Ariana Grande in Fortnit. The advantage of these concerts is that they're free: aside from owning the game and being connected shortly before the concert starts, no ticket or health pass is required. 👌

Recently, Warner Music announced its plan to create a virtual music theme park on Sandbox. Warner is planning to feature leading artists (Dua Lipa, Madonna, Coldplay, and Ed Sheeran) in virtual VIP concert halls.

Another example, this time in education: Komodal, a virtual event operator, enabled 595 students from EFREI to take part in an orientation seminar in a metaverse, to help them learn about career paths and find their direction.

Let's talk fashion now!

The men's fall/winter 2022-2023 fashion week in January started strong with the EGONLAB x Crocs show. The collaboration sold five pairs of Crocs as NFTs, auctioned off and covered in Swarovski crystals.
Gucci also got in on it. The luxury brand has already ventured into the metaverse with its "Gucci Garden" experience on Roblox. Visitors were able to buy exclusive virtual Gucci products. A Dionysus bag sells for more than the physical version!

Ralph Lauren and Zepeto, always highly innovative, virtually recreated iconic New York neighborhoods and offered, among other things, a digital clothing fashion show.

Upcoming event: The 1st Fashion Week 2.0 is announced on the Decentraland platform in March 2022 (dates to be confirmed!). Participants will be able to watch the shows, chat with brands, take part in aftershows, experience exceptional immersive experiences, and buy clothes for their avatars. Will you be there? 🚀
